چکیده
BACKGROUND Fetal bilirubin is routinely measured at our center when taking a pretransfusion blood sample intrauterine transfusions in hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn. However, clinical value fetal assessment not well known, information rarely used. We speculated that there could be role for this measurement predicting need neonatal exchange transfusion. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to evaluate predictive severe STUDY DESIGN A total 186 infants with Rh alloantibody–mediated newborn treated one or more Leiden University Medical Center between January 2006 June 2020 were included observational study. Antenatal postnatal factors compared without transfusion treatments. The primary outcome was levels before last relation RESULTS In multivariate logistic regression analysis, level (odds ratio, 1.32; 95% confidence interval, 1.09–1.61 per 1 mg/dL) number 0.63; 0.44–0.91 transfusion) independently associated area under curve determined 0.71. Youden index calculated 0.43. corresponding 5 mg/dL had sensitivity 79% specificity 64%. CONCLUSION high likelihood

KM The primary cause, of course, is maternal antibodies to red blood cells. Their formation usually occurs at delivery, and in the following pregnancy, those antibodies cross through the placenta and can affect the next fetus. When the antibodies attach to the fetal red blood cells, the cells break down and the fetus becomes anemic. In the United States, the 3 antibodies that cause nearly all t...

Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) affects 3/100 000 to 80/100 000 patients per year. It is due to maternal blood group antibodies that cause fetal red cell destruction and in some cases, marrow suppression. This process leads to fetal anemia, and in severe cases can progress to edema, ascites, heart failure, and death. Infants affected with HDFN can have hyperbilirubinemia in th...
